I’ve been struggling recently to find the motivation and inspiration to create content for my blog and YouTube channel, and I don’t know why. It’s not like I’ve got nothing to do, I have lots to write about with my trip to Shetland last month and lots of hours of footage to edit. But every time I sit down to do it my brain goes blank, well not sit down because I do that all the time, but you know what I mean.

There’s just been a lot going on right now and I just can’t seem to concentrate. I’m currently looking for a new personal care assistant (if you know anyone, advert here) and I’m just trying to juggle rotas and employment as well as everything else. I’m also going through a tiring battle with social work and other professionals to get the support I need day to day. I don’t want to divulge too much into that just now, but it’s basically an ongoing battle I’ve been having since 2012. I share briefly about it in my recent YouTube video on my trip to Scottish Parliament. I feel like I’m never getting anywhere with it all, however I’m not backing down. It just takes up a lot of my energy and puts me down a little.

I think sleeps a bit factor in everything just now. I’m not sleeping because I’m stressed out, and also because I seem to be getting nowhere with my ventilator mask. For those who don’t know I use a Bi-Pap ventilator overnight whist I sleep, you can read why I use it in this blog post. Basically, though the mask that’s the most suitable one for me, I’ve been using since I was 8 years old. Obviously not that exact one but that make. I found out I think last year that it’s been discontinued so I can no longer get it. I was fine though as I had two of them, until they both decided to break just before Christmas. I mean 2 minutes after one another. I tried my best to still use it but eventually had to give up last month. The one that I’ve been given is not suitable and I’ve not been able to resolve the issue yet. Hopefully this month it will.

On a positive not though, I HAVE A JOB!!!!! Yes even though I’ve been volunteering for this company since the end of last year, last month was the first month that I officially got paid. I am the Digital Project Manager for OOVIRT, a local company that helps promote the accessibility of businesses through virtual tours, access guides and training. We recently developed a virtual tour for Dundee United Football Stadium. I am very happy as it still involves doing everything I love with trying to improve accessibility for all. It just means that there are more things to organise and get done in one day, never a dull moment in the life of Claire.

Sorry this blog post hasn’t been the most exciting one and that I have been a bit MIA recently. Hopefully everything will calm down soon, or I’ll just need to get more organised and motivated. Shetland post and vlog will be up soon, and I will try to keep you posted on everything else. I just need to not take anything lying down and shout from the rooftops. One chapter has just begun, but the book is nowhere near finished.
