When you’re a child you always get told “I want doesn’t get” however, as you get older you start to learn that if you don’t ask for something then it won’t happen. Confusing, isn’t it? It’s true though, nothing that you desperately want in life will just land on your lap, you’ve got to get out there and work for it. With starting my blog and YouTube channel I wanted to get it out there and reach people who may not see my post just online. So, I contacted a magazine called Scotland’s Able to see if I could write a short piece for their next issue to help me promote A Journey In My Wheel, they replied instantly and said if I wrote something they would look over it and possibly publish it. Now I was expecting a little column or something at the end of the magazine, but no. They published my piece on a whole page.
I actually can’t believe it, and now with that one article promoting my blog and YouTube channel people are contacting me. Now unfortunately you can’t buy this magazine from a shop but if you would like to see the whole magazine, you can find it HERE, my article is on page 63. Here is an image below of the article as well because the link does not work on iPhones or iPads and I’m not sure about other devices, I had to open it on my laptop.
It feels great knowing that maybe just maybe I am starting to make a difference in the world, slowly but surely. I have also been asked to attend the Promoting Inclusion Transforming Lives conference in June at the University of Dundee. The conference is being held by PAMIS and the University of Dundee, I have been asked to be a keynote speaker. To say I’m nervous about this is an understatement. I’ve never been very good at public speaking especially when there will be over 120 people, yes you read that correctly 120 people. I’m hoping it won’t be too bad as the talk will be based around me and my experiences in life, and as I have said before no one knows you better than yourself so I won’t have to memorise anything, maybe just statistics if I use them. I’m really excited though and it’s a great opportunity to voice my opinions on things (we all know I have a lot of them) and hopefully make a change.
I also have a few projects in the pipeline so watch this space.
